HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 27-year-old man is jailed on a bond of $11,000 after he was arrested Monday for drugs and an altercation with law enforcement.
Killian Craig faces potential charges of felony interference with law enforcement, felony battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Apparently officers went to a residence in the 500 block of East 9th where Craig was staying to serve warrants for his arrest. He allegedly left out a back door, ran from officers, but was quickly captured. He then allegedly fought them as they were trying to take him into custody and allegedly struck an officer during the altercation, injuring that officer. Police also allege that he was in possession of drugs at the time of his arrest.
In court Tuesday morning, he denied that he struck the officer, arguing that he was in handcuffs and couldn’t have struck the officer. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen advised him that it wasn’t in his best interest to talk about the case without a lawyer present.
The judge left the bond where it was at the time of his arrest. He’ll be back in court on Nov. 10 for the reading of formal charges.
