HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A motion hearing for a woman charged with unlawful sexual relations with an inmate at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility is expected to resume Tuesday morning.
Marla Criqui is charged in the case for the alleged conduct with a 30-year-old inmate.
The hearing was over a defense motion to suppress statements she made to investigators where she allegedly admitted to the sexual relations with Breland Davis. She alleges she felt intimidated and scared to the point where she felt she had to say what he wanted to hear in order to be allowed to leave.
The defense contends she was coerced, while the state denies that happened.
Criqui was working for a food service contractor for the prison and the inmate worked with her in the kitchen of the central unit when the alleged encounters occurred. The state alleges the crime occurred between June 11, 2012, and June 15, 2012.
Prison officials got word about this happening through an anonymous letter that started the investigation.
Again, the hearing is scheduled to resume Tuesday.
