HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Governor Sam Brownback has appointed Cheryl I. Allen to Magistrate Judge for the 27 th Judicial District which covers Reno County.
The appointment is effective upon swearing in. Allen is replacing Judge Randy McEwen who retired earlier this year.
Allen has served as an Assistant District Attorney mainly covering juvenile matters in District Court. She had also at one point worked for the Kansas Department of Corrections representing inmates who needed a lawyer in District Court matters.
According to a release from from the Chief Judge Patty Macke-Dick, Allen will start her new position as the Magistrate Judge on Oct. 13. She says that’s when the swearing in will take place at 8:15 a.m.
