The two people arrested back on August 7 after a drug related search was conducted on their home were in court again Wednesday morning where both were read the formal complaints against them.
33-year-old Brian Nelson faces charges of aggravated endangerment with a child, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was concerned because he was told he would only face misdemeanor charges, but Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen explained that the state decided to also file the felony charge.
The co-defendant, 22-year-old Kassie Laughlin is charged with aggravated endangerment with a child, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package marijuana for sale and personal use drug paraphernalia.
Officers allegedly found a glass jar in her bedroom which contained the alleged marijuana. They also found inside her purse a pipe with marijuana residue. In the kitchen, they found an open box of sandwich bags and another bag next to it with marijuana residue. Allegedly, both her and Nelson admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the search of the home.
Both are charged with the endangerment count because of a 7-month old child being in the home, but Nelson told the judge that the child was never near any drugs.
Both will be back in court on September 10.
