HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 28-year-old Hutchinson man made a first appearance in court Wednesday on a charge of aggravated battery.
Matthew Cole is jailed on a $5,000 bond for the alleged beating of 32-year-old Bobby Pinkston early Tuesday morning.
Pinkston was found by police at a home in the 100 block of East Campbell and according to statements made in court, was barely conscious. He was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he later stated, it was Cole who he got into a confrontation with.
Cole is no stranger to law enforcement with past convictions for drugs, criminal possession of a firearm and no tax stamp for a case that goes back to 2009. And he has another conviction for aggravated battery for a case from 2007.
He appeared in front of Judge Joe McCarville where the bond was left the same and will be back in court on Sept. 23, when the state may have filed formal charges.
