Hutchinson Community College to have presence at the Kansas State Fair

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College will once again have a presence at the Kansas State Fair showcasing numerous aspects of the college.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take home a digital memory from the Fair with the iSnap machine, get a great bargain on soft drinks with a souvenir cup or play chess against one of the top players in the state.

The college’s location is in the Meadowlark Building and will feature general information on the college in addition to its Fire Science/Public Safety and Automation Engineer Technology programs.

Ag Diesel Mechanics, Agriculture and Welding will be located immediately south of the Encampment Building.

The Block and Bridle Club will assist the first weekend with The Grand Drive, the Fair’s 4-H/FFA Livestock Show, and will care for the champion animals throughout the Fair.

The LPN Program will be assisting the Lions Sight Foundation with screenings in the Sunflower North Building.

Blue Dragon Cheer/Dance teams will assist in Cottonwood Court.

The Hutch CC Chess Club will be hosting two events on Thursday, Sept. 17:

50 vs. 1” – Renowned chess expert Gabriel Purdy, one of the highest ranked chess players in the state of Kansas and five-time state champion, will play simultaneous games against fifty competitors in a “50 vs. 1” competition.

The Blitz Tournament & Giant Chess Set where you can join in a 3-round Blitz Tournament & Giant Chess Set. In Blitz Chess, each side has a total of 5 minutes for all their moves of the game – so every game will finish in a maximum of 10 minutes.
