First Call For Help began their yearly distribution of school supplies Tuesday for needy kids in our community. Susie Christopher, Director of First Call telling us that they have 2500 kids registered to receive the supplies this year.

She says they will be handing out supplies through the end of the week, then anyone wanting supplies after that will need some recommendation from a school teacher or someone else with the area school districts.

She parents who didn’t register in advance can still get school supplies, but will need to bring an ID for each member of the family, income information and proof of residence or home address.

Christopher told us they had has a steady stream of those coming, some lined up as early as 3:15 a-m, Tuesday morning.

Much of supplies coming from an event back on August 3, sponsored by Wal-Mart, Midwest Ford, and Eagle Radio. That raised a-lot says Christopher and the folks at Midwest Ford even handed her a check for a thousand dollars on top of the supplies gathered at the event.
Wal-Mart not only gave the space for the event, they also gave a 100-dollar donation and helped pay for the remote broadcast by KHMY-FM, My 93.1 and KHUT-FM, Country 102.9.

This is an annual event by First Call For Help and Christopher tells us she’s been doing this for the last 25-years.

The distribution of school supplies continues through the end of the week.
