HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 School Board Monday was briefed by RSP and Associates about the boundary study the district has contracted the company to perform.
During the budget discussion last school year, a community group recommended – and the board agreed – to a cost-saving plan that would take one section of each grade out of McCandless Elementary School. The cost-saving plan would reduce district expenses by about $350,000 annually while increasing kindergarten to sixth grade class sizes by an average one student per classroom across the district.
RSP was contracted to perform the background work and walk the community through the boundary process. The company also performed the most recent widespread boundary study in 2010.
Included in the work will be a public forum on boundary concepts and issues on Oct. 13. The boundary work is expected to be completed during the winter months of the current school year and would be for the 2016-17 school year.
