HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The 23-year-old man shot by Hutchinson Police last week is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday.
Judge Tim Chambers told Joseph Roman during the initial court appearance of the potential charges which could include 15-counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and one count of aggravated assault.
Roman was released from Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after being shot by police after he pointed a shot gun at them during a stand off that lasted over four hours on August 5. Roman suffered a gun shot wound to the hand in the incident. As he appeared via-video from the Reno County Jail, he held the phone with his left hand.
Five officers have been placed on administrative leave as per normal procedure and the investigation continues.
He’s scheduled for court Tuesday to hear the formal reading of charges and remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.
