Five taken into custody after standoff with HPD

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Five people were taken into custody Wednesday after a short standoff with police. Authorities took two people wanted in Illinois and three people wanted on local warrants after they either were apprehended or came out on their own.

According to Sgt. Eric Buller, police discovered a stolen car from Macomb, Illinois at an apartment complex at 3rd and Pershing about 10:30 Wednesday morning. As they were searching the complex, one subject came out and informed law enforcement that there were others inside the apartment that were armed. After about 45 minutes, authorities took three subjects from the apartment into custody while the fifth subject was apprehended as he came up to law enforcement from across the street.

The two subjects from Illinois are Jazmine Roberts, who is said to have some ties to Hutchinson, and Brandon Frazier. Both are jailed on suspicion of possession of drugs and stolen property. The three subjects wanted on local warrants were 28-year-old Mathew Perez, on a warrant for failure to appear on a DUI case; 42-year-old Charlette Jenkins on a warrant for failure to appear for a DUI; and 20-year-old Trevor Hover on a warrant for failure to appear failure of payment in a theft case.

Police did find one weapon along with drugs and paraphernalia during the apprehension of all involved.

Forty-two-year-old Charlette Ann Jenkins was arrested for felony interference with law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of depressants possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm.

Twenty-eight-year-old Matthew Lewis Perez was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of depressants and possession of marijuana.
