HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 33-year-old woman who was arrested just after midnight Monday made a first appearance in court on a charge of auto burglary.
Jacqueline Raner was charged with auto burglary and theft after she allegedly broke into a vehicle on Swarens Street late Sunday night. She allegedly stole a flashlight, lighter and a lottery ticket.
But, she was also arrested on a warrant for another case with much more serious charges.
In that case, the state alleges two counts of aggravated burglary, auto burglary, criminal threat, felony theft of a firearm, and criminal carrying a weapon.
The state alleges that, on June 4, she broke into a home on Aurora Street while the resident was at home. She’s alleged to have stolen a 9 mm Taurus handgun from the owner. She’s alleged to have broken into another home in the 1500 block of Brookwood, also while the resident was home, and also allegedly broke into a 1992 Honda Accord. She’s also alleged to have made a criminal threat against a Hutchinson woman and was caught with the stolen handgun on her person.
Her bonds total $15,500 and she requested a reduction of bond, which was denied by Judge Joe McCarville. In the new case, the judge set a status hearing for July 22, while the case is already filed by the state, it moves to a waiver-status docket on Aug. 8.
