HUTCHINSON, Kan. – While a second jury trial for a Nickerson man is scheduled be begin on July 14, he’s scheduled to be in court on Friday for a pretrial hearing.
Armando Corral failed to appear in court following a mistrial in numerous drug cases in December of 2011. He was arrested in El Paso, Texas, trying to cross the border on April 24.
Corral was on trial for numerous counts of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and using a communication device to make drug transactions. The mistrial occurred after one of the jurors read a newspaper article about the trial, then brought it up in ear shot of other jurors. Corral was arrested after making numerous deals with a KBI agent over an extended period of time.
He remains jailed on a bond of $505,000 and has another case pending where he’s charged with aggravated failure to appear.
The pretrial hearing Friday is scheduled in front of Judge Trish Rose.
