NEWTON, Kan.– A Kansas man died and two others were injured in an accident just before 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Harvey County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1994 International single tanker truck driven by Daryl Wayne Wacker, 60, Potwin, was eastbound on Kansas 196 behind a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle that was also eastbound attempting to turn northbound on Oliver.
The truck hit the Volkswagen, entered the north ditch, over turned, and caught fire.
Wacker was pronounced dead the scene and transported to the Forensics center in Wichita.
The driver of the Volkswagen Glen H. Ashcraft, 69, and Susan D. Ashcraft, 65, both of Newton were transported to St. Francis Medical Center.
Wacker was not wearing a seat belt according to the KHP.

The accident happened around 1:20 p.m. on Friday. Dispatchers say a tractor trailer collided with a passenger vehicle creating a possible hazmat situation.
