Travis Donaldson 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – As we told you earlier this week, the preliminary hearing in three cases was continued, but Travis Donaldson was in court Thursday morning after being arrested again, this time for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was also arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in a DUI case.

Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen set a status hearing in the new case for next Wednesday and left the bond for the new arrest at $3,000.

Donaldson faces more serious charges. In one case he is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, both allegedly occurring on Jan. 14. He’s also charged with misdemeanor theft for allegedly stealing scrap metal on Jan. 11.

He’s also accused of two counts of felony theft, one for stealing rings from Hutchinson Community College Basketball Coach Steve Eck with a value over $1,000. He’s also accused of stealing a video camera from the college, also valued over $1,000. Those crimes occurred on Feb. 3.

In the third case, he’s accused of three counts of making false writing involving pawn tickets at a local pawn shop and three counts of theft by deception where he’s alleged to have made false statements to that same pawn shop where he received cash. One was for only $150, which makes it a misdemeanor charge. But the other two are felonies because the amount was over $1,000. One was for $1,700 and the other for $1,200.

Those crimes occurred in April, August and September of last year.

His preliminary hearing in the three older cases will be on July 14.
