Travis Donaldson 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – We’ll have to wait a little longer to learn whether a 21-year-old man will be bound over for trial in three cases because the preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday was continued.

Travis Donaldson, in one case is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, both allegedly occurring on Jan. 14. He’s also charged with misdemeanor theft for allegedly stealing scrap metal on Jan. 11.

The trouble for Donaldson doesn’t end there, he’s accused of two counts of felony theft, one for stealing rings from Hutchinson Community College Basketball Coach Steve Eck with a value over $1,000. He’s also accused of stealing a video camera from the college, also valued over $1,000. Those crimes occurred on Feb. 3.

In the third case, he’s accused of three counts of making false writing involving pawn tickets at a local pawn shop and three counts of theft by deception where he’s alleged to have made false statements to that same pawn shop where he received cash. One was for only $150, which makes it a misdemeanor charge. But the other two are felonies because the amount was over $1,000. One was for $1,700 and the other for $1,200.

Those crimes occurred in April, August and September of last year.

No new date was announced for the preliminary hearing, but we’ll let you know when it’s again scheduled.
