A 20-year-old Wichita man who was arrested last week for a second case of distribution of marijuana was back in court Wednesday for the formal reading of charges in his latest case.
Garrett Ketley was read the charges which include possession of marijuana with intent to sell within a thousand feet of Yoder school and no drug tax stamp. He was in the passenger seat of a vehicle which was stopped in the 10-thousand block of South Yoder Road where around 241-grams of marijuana was allegedly located in the vehicle. The pot was reportedly under the seat and Ketley told detectives that the pot was his and that he was intending to sell it.
Ketley had been in court last week on an earlier case where he was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, no tax stamp and possession of marijuana. This arrest coming back on April 26 and in this case, he allegedly had 7-pounds of marijuana. They were allegedly in two duffel bags in the vehicle he was in.
He also has a warrant from Harvey County for distribution of marijuana where he allegedly had a half pound of marijuana.
It’s believed that he may have been taking trips to Colorado and purchasing the pot and bringing it back to Kansas. As you may have heard, Colorado now has a set of laws to regulate and tax recreational marijuana. The laws cover how marijuana should be grown, packaged and sold.
That means we could see more cases like this in Kansas. Both cases against Ketley will be placed on a future waiver-status docket.
Bond in the cases was raised to 156-thousand, 500-dollars. He’s being housed out of county.
