HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Flooding is becoming a problem in northern parts of Reno County and it’s forecast flooding 6to get worse over the next several days.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Northern Reno County as water from the Little Arkansas River and Cow Creek in Rice County are running full. That water is expected to reach Reno County in the next 24 to 48 hours.

So far only two county roads are closed. Those roads are Sallee Road from 82nd to 108th and 95th Avenue from Dean to Sallee. Other township roads are closed due to saturated conditions or low land flooding. Emergency management says more roads in the northern parts of the county that are susceptible to flooding will likely close in the next few days, especially if more rain falls in the area.

Law enforcement wants to remind motorists that it is against the law to drive around barricades that are closing roads due to flooding.
