HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Health Department is reporting Monday that they are now investigating a possible outbreak of Pertussis here in Hutchinson. Currently, three cases have been reported and are still under investigation, while other cases are also being investigated at this time.
The Health Department, along with KDHE and USD 308, is working diligently on all these cases.
Health officials ask that you make sure your family’s vaccinations are up-to-date. Protections against Pertussis from the childhood vaccine “DTaP” decreases over time. Older children and adults, including pregnant women, should get a pertussis booster shot called “Tdap” to protect themselves and infants near or around them. If you need the Tdap vaccine, contact your physician or call the Reno County Health Department at 694-2900.
