A 38-year-old man who served time for convictions out of Shawnee County was bound over on some serious charges here in Reno County after a preliminary hearing Monday.
Shane Vobach was free here in Reno County on parole and was allegedly caught with items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine. The alleged crimes occurring back on February 27th.
The state has charged him with manufacture of methamphetamine, or in the alternative attempt to manufacture meth, possession of lithium metal, possession of anhydrous ammonia and possession of drug paraphernalia all with the intent to manufacture meth. After the hearing, the state added an amended count of possession of methamphetamine.
He was apparently on parole and failed to make an appointment leading to parole officers going to his home. They knocked and there was no answer. They found an open window near the alley where the small home is located in the 600 block of East A. They claimed they could smell ether and after that, the meth lab was discovered and drug unit detectives were called in to work the lab.
With Vobach being bound over, the case moves to the court of Judge Trish Rose for arraignment which will come Monday.
Vobach had served time for robbery, misdemeanor battery, criminal threat and cruelty to animals. But, he also has previous convictions for drugs and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. All of the convictions are out of Shawnee and Johnson counties.
