HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Trek bicycles issued a recall of a number of bikes after a possible mechanical 
defect was detected that could cause an accident.
The recall involves the quick-release handle, that if not properly secured, could fall into the brake rotor that is attached to the front wheel, causing a sudden stop. Bob Updengraff with Harley’s Bicycles, who is the local Trek dealer in Hutchinson, says if you have been notified by Trek, you need to bring your bike in for the necessary repairs. The bicycles in question were manufactured between 2000 and 2015 and are limited to bikes with front disc brakes.
If you have not been contacted about the recall, you can still bring your bicycle in for a free checkup to see if it falls under the recall.
