The latest test by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment continues to show a high concentration of blue-green algae in some area lakes
High levels of toxic blue-green algae have been detected and public health warnings have been issued stating that water conditions are unsafe and direct water contact at the Buhler City Lake in Reno County, the Colwich Memorial Park Lake and Riggs Park Lake in Sedgwick County, and Memorial Park, Veteran’s Lake in Barton County should be avoided.
Humans, pets and livestock should avoid any contact with these bodies of water, and certainly don’t drink any of the lake water.
Also, clean fish and rinse with clean water, consume only the fillet portion, and discard all other parts.
