The 20-year-old man who entered a plea to a charge of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child was granted 36-months community corrections on a 32-months sentence by Judge Tim Chambers Friday morning.

Justin Richardon was jailed after he showed up at a local apartment thinking he was going to meet a 15-year-old girl for a sexual relationship only to be greeted by police.

He had been charged with a single count of solicitation of a child, but he enter a guilty plea to an amended complaint charging him with a single count of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child instead.

The case centers on Hutchinson Police Detective Scott Carlton communicating with Richardson through facebook and police decided to set up a sting. Richardson made comments about wanting sexual relations with what he thought was the teenage girl. Carlton told us the suspect walked a mile and half because he had no transportation, but was greeted by police instead. This occurring back on December 14, 2012.

Richardson told the court that he regrets what he did and that it never should have happened. He says if given corrections, he hopes to go back to Rice County where he would live with his grandmother.

Judge Chambers granted the border box finding based on a sexual evaluation which stated he was “low risk” of offending again and not a danger to the community. However, he will be required to register a sex offender.
