HUTCHINSON, KS — A couple fires Friday morning are again being ruled arson according to Hutchinson Deputy Fire Chief Doug Hanen, and it led to the arrest of a juvenile.
The first call coming in at around 11:26 a.m., when firefighters responded to 11th and Wilson for a bale on fire. While in route, fire units were then dispatched to a second fire at 9th and Carrousel. That call coming in at 11:29 a.m. When they arrived they found a 2 acre patch of grass burning on the south side of the ditch and a hay ball in fire in the field to the south.
The fires were contained quickly with units remaining scene for about 4 hours ensuing all hot spots were out.
The cause of the fires again rule as arson, Reno County Sheriff’s Officers arresting a sixteen-year-old juvenile in the incident.
Sheriff Randy Henderson says fires Friday are not related to fires in the southern part of county.
