HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is again investigating what appears to be arson fires in the county.
Sheriff Randy Henderson says the fires were set in CRP grass in the south central part of Reno County from Arlington Rd. south to Parallel, and from Herren Rd. west to Avery Rd.
There were a total of five fires on Tuesday. This appears to be a very similar situation as what occurred with the fires from March 14 when we had 14 fires.
Officials are asking that anyone with information on any suspects please contact law enforcement by calling 911, or Crime Stoppers at 620-694-2666 or 1-800-222-8477.

Pretty Prairie and rural fire crews battled four separate grass fires this morning.
And, according to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, the fires are deemed suspicious in nature. Reno County 911 started receiving calls around 6:35 this morning and within minutes two other fires were reported. All were located between Pretty Prairie and Arlington. A fourth fire was reported about 30 minutes after the first one. All were brought under control and no reports of damage have been received.
It was last week that rural fire crews had to deal with 14 separate grass fires that stretched for nearly 20 miles through the southern parts of the county.
No arrests have been made in that case.
