The three people arrested on July 17, after the Reno County Drug Unit served a search warrant on a home at 1016 North Van Buren have been formally charged.
Charged in the case is Shane Kinast, Dwayne Porting and Elisha Bozarth. All three face drug related charges after officers allegedly found a bag on the couch of the home that contained a small zip-lock bag with a crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Also in the bag was more zip-lock bags and a digital scale.
All three have been read the complaints against them by Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen.
Not one of the three claim responsibility for the drugs, and Kinast claims he purchased a 22-caliber handgun which was allegedly stolen from Butler County and found in his home. He claims he had no knowledge of the gun being stolen.
He was recently busted in another case for possession of meth and also has a probation violation pending for DUI.
Kinast still wants to hire his own attorney and again asked for a reduction of the 12-thousand, 500 dollar bond, but the state opposed and the judge refused his request.
He’ll be back in court next week for a status hearing. The cases for the other two will now be placed on a waiver status docket next month.
