BUHLER, Kan. – Advance voting is under way at the Reno County Courthouse ahead of the Buhler USD 313 vote on a $10 million bond issue.
The bond issue would fund major improvements for the school’s athletic facilities, including new football turf, expanded seating at the stadium, a new track, and expanded press box. It would also fund the relocation of the current tennis courts to make more room for parking around the stadium.
The bond would also fund major improvements to Wheatland Park, adding new baseball and softball fields. The new fields would move high school baseball from Prairie Hills Middle School to the city of Buhler.
The bond issue would raise the mill levy by 1.9 mills. That is being offset by a 1.9 mill decrease in maintenance funds that are needed to keep the current facilities up and running.
Advance voting runs until noon Monday, with the election on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
