HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Greg Meredith has decided to run for a seat on the USD 308 Board of Education. Meredith is the vice president of compliance and ethics for the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System. He’s had that position since April 2014. Prior to that, he practiced law with Gilliland and Hayes, a Hutchinson-based law firm.

“I believe education is one of the most critical parts of our country’s history and essential to the quality of life in our community,” Meredith said in a news release. “Public education is a great equalizer. It gives students the foundation to create the life they desire. While I realize many of the threats to that system come from beyond the district, I feel I owe it to the community to work at the local level to protect the quality of education we offer.”

Meredith and his wife, Mimi, have three children, the youngest of whom graduated from Hutchinson High School in May. Merediths lived in Hutchinson from 1986 to 1999, when they moved to Phoenix, AZ. They returned to Hutchinson in April of 2012.

“We intentionally moved into the Hutchinson School District when we returned to Hutchinson,” Meredith said. “Our daughter, Mary Charlotte, flourished here thanks to outstanding programs, staff and community support. I have never considered myself to be political, but I value integrity and I am committed to maintain the high standards that create exceptional experiences for students and workplace culture that cultivates and retains outstanding staff. I think I can contribute to those goals.”
