HUTCHINSON, Kan. — It is a very busy agenda for the Hutchinson City Council during Tuesday’s agenda session. The Council will hear the presentation from the committee in charge of the Sports Arena project. The committee is recommending the city and college spend $29.4 million to renovate the 62-year-old facility.
The council will also go over the bond proposal for the Commerce gardens renovation project on East 11th Avenue and set a date for a public hearing for a proposed TIF district to help fund renovation of the Hutchinson Mall. Last week, RockStep was before the council asking them to consider the tax increment financing designation for the property to help fund over $14 million in renovations to the mall property.
Finally, the council will take action on the recommendation whether or not former Hutchinson Police officer Lorenzo Bohringer be reinstated to the force. Bohringer and two other officers were terminated in December of last year after he lied about his knowledge of inappropriate conduct by another officer. The council will also take bids for the demolition of structures on 10 properties in the city.
Tuesday’s City Council meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the city offices.
