SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. – An elderly man was killed and one was injured in an accident just before 5 p.m. on Friday in Reno County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol 82-year-old Leo Vern Krehbiel, of Pretty Prairie, was northbound on K-14 and came to a stop at the intersection of K-96.
He failed to yield right of way and collided with a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Mary Teresa Sobba of Wichita who was southbound on K-96.
Krehbiel and Sobba were both transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Leo Kriehbel later passed away at the hospital. A passenger in his vehicle, 80-year-old Rita Krehbiel was not injured.
The highway patrol reported all three were properly restrained at the time of accident.
The accident occurred right around what is known locally as Crupper’s Corner, or three miles south of South Hutchinson.
