HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The local District Attorney’s Office effort to collect toys and other items for kids less fortunate in the community didn’t do as well as hoped, however they did beat last year, according to Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton. In four days they filled seven large boxes for the “Toys for Tots” campaign. That’s two more than last year.
Stanton says in addition to the seven boxes, they received two bicycles, 203 hats, 13 scarves, 10 hat and glove sets and 35 gloves and mittens. They also received donations totaling $310, which he says was also up from last year.
Stanton says he believes the community responded well for the four days of collection.
He says they want to thank those who helped and, on behalf of his boss, District Attorney Keith Schroeder, everyone in the District Attorney’s Office wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
