HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The matter of traffic control at the intersection of 23rd Avenue and Waldron came up for discussion again during Tuesday’s Hutchinson City Council meeting.
City manager John Deardoff and engineer Brian Clennan told the Council that they will change the intersection to a 4-way stop. Currently, only east/ west traffic stops. Deardoff told the Council that despite low traffic counts throughout the day, a number of accidents happen at the intersection during peak traffic times. Clennan says the 4-way stop will mean a delay of about 10 to 15 seconds for north and south bound traffic, but a decrease from 20 seconds down to about 10 seconds for east and west bound vehicles.
No time table was given as to when the change will be made.
