Aggravated Assault trial being held this week
A HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A local woman is on trial this week on 1 count of aggravated assault. Stephanie Garcia is accused of nearly striking her ex-boyfriend and two friends outside of a local video store.
The state charged her for the incident at the Family Video in Hutchinson. She apparently became upset when Lazerick Young was seen with another femle, someone he claims is just a friend. As Young and his female friend left the video store, they ran into another friend and began talking. That’s when Garcia is alleged to have come from the east side of the store in her vehicle at a high rate of speed and swerved, nearly hitting the three. Young testified that her vehicle actually brushed the purse of his female friend. He says he jumped out of the way thinking she was going to strike them.
The case is being heard in front of Judge Trish Rose.
