HUTCHINSON Kansas, — The Reno County Commission aproved a couple of resolutions Tuesday morning as part of the consent agenda.
One was for the Economic Development Job Incentive Policy. That would kick in during an exceptional case where they would pay a portion of the cash incentives in advance if there is a substantial capital investment and the possibility of creating more than 100 full-time jobs with the wage higher than the average for the area. A good example is the recent announcement that Mervis Railcar is opening a plant in Hutchinson
They also approved the list of county collector roads they want included in the functional classification of roads in order to be eligible for the federal Surface Transportation Program funding.
They also approved the salaries for the elected officials including the sheriff, the county clerk, register of deeds and treasurer. The increases represent the 1 percent cost of living adjustment approved for all county employees earlier this year.
The sheriff will receive a salary of $87,607, while the county clerk will receive a salary of $67,351. The salary for the Register of Deeds increases to $62,150 and the salary for the treasurer goes to $52,000 annually.
