TURON, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case where a number of brass vaces from a cemetery in the western part of the county were stolen.
It was back on October 7, when they took the report from the Turon Cemetary. A total of 26 brass vases were stolen from graves there. And investigators believe that thefts may have occurred at other cemeteries in the area. Sheriff Captain Steve Lutz says they’re looking at others after getting additional reports.
They also cashed them in at a local iron and metal facility according to the sheriff’s department and most were crushed. Lutz says they had gotten the report from Midwest Iron and Metal that they were taken there.
They’re asking the public’s help in finding out who may have done this. If you have any information regarding the cemetery thefts, you should call the Sheriff’s Office at 694-2735 or remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers of Reno County at 694-2666.
