TOPEKA, Kan. — The latest unemployment numbers show improvement once again for Hutchinson and Reno County.
The numbers released Friday show the rate for Hutchinson for the month of September is at 4.3 percent, down from 4.8 percent in August and better than the 5 percent in September of last year. The rate for the county is at 3.9 percent in September, compared to the 4.5 percent in August and 4.7 percent in 2013.
In the city there are 906 residents looking for work, according to the September numbers, while 1, 333 are looking for work county wide. Most of those residents are in the city of Hutchinson.
Other area county numbers include Harvey County at 4.4 percent, Kingman at 2.8 percent, McPherson at 3.1 percent, Rice County at 2.0 percent, Stafford County at 3.6 percent and Sedgwick County with its much larger work force at 5.8 percent.
The state’s September seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.8 percent, down from 4.9 percent in August and down from 5.3 percent in September 2013.
