Man charged in aggravated indecent liberties case
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A man who has a similar case in Rice County was before Administrative Judge Patty Macke-Dick Tuesday morning where he was told of a criminal complaint alleging aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
What’s interesting is that the case against Jesus Martinez-Rubio goes all the way back to December of 2009 when the alleged victim was 15. Reno County Sheriff Detective Steve Lutz says the two had a child together. The family of the victim says the defendant apparently lied to them over the Rice County case and other things leading them to report the alleged crime here.
In court, he informed the judge that he would be hiring his own attorney and bond in the case was left at $15,000.
There is some question as to his actual age according to Lutz, who says they have three different birth dates. It’s believed that Martinez-Rubio may be here in this country illegally. He’s believed to be in his 20s.
The case will now be placed on a future waiver-status docket.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 41-year-old Hutchinson man arrested on arson and drug charges last week as a result of a fire at a vacant mobile home is expected back in court Wednesday for the reading of formal charges.
Troy Petz faces possible charges of arson, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.
Firefighters responded to the 2200 block of East 4th around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 23 and found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the trailer. The trailer which was empty and had no utility service was valued at around $5,000 and is considered a total loss.
Petz does have a prior conviction for driving under the influence for a Harvey County case going back to 2009.
