HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The local Chamber of Commerce will host a debate between Congressman Tim Huelskamp and challenger Jim Sherow. The debate will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at 8:00 a.m. at the Ramada Conference Center, immediately following the monthly chamber membership breakfast. Residents of the district will have the opportunity to write and submit questions for the candidates during the event.
“The chamber is excited to provide civic engagement opportunities for Chamber and community members,” Jason Ball, President/CEO of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, said.
Martin Hawver, editor and publisher of Hawver’s Capitol Report, based in Topeka, and dean of the Kansas Statehouse press corps, will moderate the debate. Hawver will also serve as the featured speaker for the chamber membership breakfast, sponsored by Disability Supports of the Great Plains, to be held from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. at the Ramada.
Chamber members and the general public are invited to attend both the breakfast and the debate. The cost is $10 for Chamber members and $15 for non-members to attend the breakfast. Those who do not wish to attend the breakfast may attend the debate only and arrive at 8:00 a.m. There is no charge to attend the debate.
