The first budget meeting for the Hutchinson City Council is set for next week. The Council will have their first budget meeting on Monday July 8th. The proposed budget shows no mill levy increase for next year, although there is a 3.5% increase in property valuations, which will generate about 247-thousand dollars more in revenue for the city. The proposed mill levy is 41.412 mills.
The budget includes a merit step wage increase for all eligible employees, a health insurance increase of 4% although that could change, and funding for new housing initiatives. The proposed budget also calls for no new employees, no increases in storm water, sewer and water utilities, and the inclusion of the Hutchinson Recreation Levy for the first time. The Council will also meet July 16th and again the 18th to continue working on the budget.
