HUTCHINSON, Kan. — An 86-year-old Hutchinson area man was killed in a mowing accident Friday morning. He has been identified as Harold E Swanson.
EMS and Sheriff’s officers were dispatched to a farm 1/4 mile east of the intersection of East G Avenue and Airport Road after Swanson was found underneath the mower. According to 911 dispatch and the Reno County Sheriff’s office, he was using a field mower pulled behind a small tractor when he apparently left the area he was mowing and crossed the roadway to his farm stead.
It was there that he either fell, or was pulled under the mower. It’s not known whether Swanson had a medical condition, a fall or mechanical failure that lead to the accident.
