HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After two police shootings recently in Newton and Haysville, a Hutchinson man may be lucky he was only tased during a confrontation with police officers last night.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance around 11:30 last night. When they tried to take James Paige Jr. into custody, he came at the officers with a knife. Authorities tased Paige and took him into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property and interference with law enforcement. Because of his actions and other statements he made toward the victim, his bond was set at $100,000.
In the two similar incidents in Newton and Haysville, the suspect was shot and killed by officers.
