HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With all of the talk of affordable housing and income-based apartments in Hutchinson, it may be unnamed (17)easy to think that a new apartment complex along Severance near East 23rd Avenue would be any different.
But the new Inverness Apartments is not an income-based apartment as manager Kelly Lanham is quick to point out. Two of the three buildings that make up the new complex are completed and most of those apartments are filled. Lanham says less than 20 of the units are left available and that includes the building that isn’t completed yet. The complex offers one and two bedroom apartments that run from $695 for a one bedroom that is 800 square feet in size, and $1,100 a month for the 1,500 square foot two-bedroom apartments. The apartments gained a lot of attention both for the high-end market approach and the location next to the Fair Grounds Park. That location stirred some objections from residents along Meadowlark Lane whose back yard property sits east of the Inverness complex backside.
Those residents feel that the two-floor apartments leave them with less privacy in their back yards.
