HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will hold its public hearing on the 2015 fiscal year budget during Hutchinson City Halltomorrow’s regular meeting.

The total budget is $66.8 million on levied taxes of $12.5 million. If approved, the mill levy will increase by 1.7 mills to 43.2 mills. While the Council asked for cuts to its capital outlay for public facilities, they did decide to add the purchase of a new fire truck into the budget for next year due to concerns over the age of the current fleet. The council is facing the first mill levy increase in more than five years. Most of the increase will come in the form of street and infrastructure maintenance which has been pushed back over the years in order to keep the mill levy in place.

Tomorrow’s public hearing for the 2015 budget begins at 9 a.m., just before the start of the regular agenda session at the Hutchinson city offices.
