HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two people with multiple cases pending involving breaking into local buildings and storage units have now been charged in another case.
33-year-old Timothy McQueen and 21-year-old Kelsey Hamby are charged by the state with four new counts of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and making false writing. They allege that the two broke into storage units at three different locations around the city. Most of these alleged crimes occurred around June 12 or 13, while one was between May 19 and June 18.
The state also charged the two with conspiracy for break in of a storage unit in McPherson, then bringing the stolen property to Reno County. This occurred on June 9, according to the criminal complaint. They’re also alleged to have falsified a pawn ticket on that same date.
This case will move to the waiver-status docket in front of Judge Joe McCarville on August 8, however there is a hearing scheduled for August 21, for the five other cases.
McQueen was earlier convicted of aggravated burglary for a case that goes back to Oct. 5, 2012. He broke into a building at 206 W. 5th. He was given 10 months in prison, but granted probation for one year. In the other case, he was convicted of possession of methamphetamine for a case that goes back to Nov. 16, 2012. Judge Rose sentenced him to one year, eight months in prison, but again granted probation of one year and eight months.
She ran the two probation periods consecutive to each other, meaning he’s on probation for two years, eight months, but that could be revoked.
In court Monday, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson argued for an increase in the two bonds because of the number of cases already pending against the two. He says every time they get out of jail, they commit more crimes. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen agreed and increased the bonds for both in the latest case from $10,000 to $15,000.
