HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 38-year-old Hutchinson man who was arrested on July 14th for allegedly setting three dumpsters on fire was in court Thursday morning for the formal reading of charges.
Robin Rolland was arrested by police after the fires were started in trash bins. The first was July 13th at Avenue A Park and was extinguished by the reporting party before fire crews even arrived.
The other two were reported in the early morning hours of July 14. One reported in the unit block of East A , behind Wayne’s Printing. Damaged was done to two dumpsters, a meter which belongs to Westar Energy according to the criminal complaint, and pipes. Units arrived and found two dumpsters fully involved. The fire caused about $700 worth of damage to the dumpsters, but no damage to the business itself.
The third blaze was then reported in the 700 block of East 4th at the Kwik Shop corporate offices. Units found another dumpster located next to the building fully involved. Damage to the dumpster is estimated at $350, but again, no damage occurred to the building.
There were no injuries reported from the incident. Rolland was jailed on a bond of $15,000 and he will be back in court on July 22, with his case part of a waiver-status docket in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen.
