HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council gave approval to provide limited fire protection for the city of city logoSouth Hutchinson during Tuesday’s agenda session.

But the Council made it clear that they were not pleased with the agreement, and want the matter discussed further in the future. Under the agreement, the city will provide limited protection for all residential and commercial alarms within city limits. It does not include another emergency response or fire alarm activation. The cost is one mill of taxes, or about $22,000. The council feels that the cost is way too low considering that even limited protection which, would be an average of 12 runs a year, is worth about a half million dollars. Councilman John Daveline said he wanted a letter written to the city of South Hutchinson letting them know that this matter will need to be addressed.

Both sides are trying to come up with an agreement that would have the city provide full fire protection for South Hutchinson. Those discussions will continue.
