CHENEY, Kan. — Area residents get a three-day weekend this fourth of July holiday and many are heading for Cheney Lake.
Unlike the past three years, the lake is a full 6 inches above regular depth levels, according to state park officials. As of Wednesday, Cheney State Park had about 60 campsites with water and electricity utilities open for reservation and about 300 traditional campsites available.
All boating ramps are also open this weekend for the park’s expected 40,000 visitors. Weekend events include live music and a sailing regatta.
