HUTCHINSON, Kan. – What Hutchinson Fire Department officials are calling “Safe and Sane” fireworks including firecrackers are the only fireworks approved for Hutchinson and Fire District #2.
Approved fireworks will be sold in Hutchinson and Fire District #2 starting June 30 through July 4.
Fireworks can be discharged from 8:00 a.m. To 11:00 p.m., during the same period.
Fireworks that travel more than six feet in any direction are banned from use in Hutchinson and Fire District #2. Examples: Aerial cakes, roman candles, rockets, missiles, mines, shells, and flying spinners, etc.
Fireworks must be discharged on residential property with permission of the property owner.
By the way, Fire Chief Kim Forbes has the authority to ban the discharge of fireworks anytime conditions warrant.
Fireworks cannot be discharged on public property such as roads, city streets and public parks.
