HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Motorist in Reno County will now face three major road projects for the next several months.
Starting Monday, K-dot will begin an asphalt overlay project on K-61 Highway in Reno County. The project will start at the Ninnescah River Bridge at the north city limits of Arlington, to the intersection of K-61 & US-50 west of South Hutchinson. The project adds to the two other major projects in the county, the K-61 box culvert replacement between 4th and 11th Avenues in Hutchinson, and the US-50 overlay project stretching from Newton to Obee Road, just east of Hutchinson.
Like the US-50 work, traffic through the K-61 work zone will be controlled by flagmen and pilot car, so drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The work area will move daily, and work will be underway during daylight hours only. This project is scheduled to be completed by September, depending on delays caused by adverse weather conditions.
Cost of the overlay project is $1,740,184
