HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Reno County sales tax numbers for June show an increase over what was collected in May of this year.
According to numbers released from County Treasure Jan Hull, the county collected $416, 265 in June which reflects sales in the county in April. That amount is higher then the $336,128 collected in May. It’s also higher then the $342, 788 collected in June of last year. So far, the county has collected $2,252, 901 for the year.
The money collected from sales tax for the building of the new county jail continues to be pretty impressive as well with just over $511,558 collected in the month of April, reflected in the June numbers.
That money comes from the one half cent sales tax approved by voters to build the new jail, eventually move some county services to what is current the jail annex, add a new entrance to the Reno County Courthouse and also make improvements to the city-county Law Enforcement Center.
