HUTCHINSON, Kan. — They dropped Buhler USD 313 School District from their coverage.
Now EMC Insurance wants to be the property and casualty insurer for the district once again. The School Board will hold a special meeting this evening, and one of the items for discussion will be insurance for the districts facilities. Superintendent Mike Berblinger tells Eagle Communications that several events, like last year’s hail storm, and continued flooding problems at Buhler High School caused EMC to drop its coverage for the district. But with repairs being made to the drainage system around the high school, that was part of the bond issue, and other factors, EMC says they want back in. Berblinger says the insurance provider has been taking similar action across the nation, and the district is looking at its options.
Tonight’s Buhler USD 313 Board meeting begins at 6 p.m., at the Burkholder Administrative Center in Buhler.
